NorthWoods Friesians is proud to present our first foal born - Yrse fan de NorthWoods (pronounced “ear-suh”). Here’s your chance to own a “black beauty” of your very own.
Yrse is expected to mature between 15.2 to 16.2 hh, have a thick mane and tail, solid black coat, and moderate to full feathering – taking on almost a purebred racial type. While both Tsjalle and Elsa have no white markings, Yrse has a small wisp of white on her back left coronet band. It’s most likely she received this from Elsa’s side as her dam had a small white star. She has a playful, quirky, curious nature like her dam and is exceptionally comfortable around people.
She’s been a wonderful student while working on foal-appropriate basic ground manners and halter training. She is quickly learning how to pick up her feet, very good about being touched all over her body, ears, and stands quietly for fly spray – thank goodness too because the flies and gnats have been awful this year! She loves to be brushed, insists on lots of scratches, is always curious about what you're doing, loves to roll around in her mom's hay, run like mustang in the pasture, and take naps in the sun.
Her sire is the highly influential, permanently approved KFPS stallion Tsjalle Sport Elite Preferent AAA of Black Pearl Friesians and Miley Friesians. He was chosen due to his extraordinary achievements as well as taking into account is linear score sheet of movement and conformation. His AFBP scores are 75.50 in riding, 91.50 in show driving, and 85.50 in driven dressage. He is the youngest KFPS stallion to ever earn the Preferent predicate and has been highly influential in the modernization of the Friesian horse.
Yrse’s dam is the sweet-natured, intelligent, and exceptionally affectionate mare Elsa HM of Horsemeister Inc. Her KFPS lineage includes Ludse 305, Feike 395 Sport, Romke 234, and Reiste 272 Sport Preferent. Elsa was my new riding horse after my gelding retired. She has been nothing but a joy to own since bringing her home as a weanling back in 2017. She has a thicker build, is level across the back, has large/healthy hooves, and has always been the picture of health herself. Her lovable character makes her a favorite of guests. She’s had honor of being the first horse ever rode for several young children. And due to Elsa’s docile temperament, I had no doubts about breeding her. I was certain she would make an outstanding dam and pass on her favorable disposition to her offspring.
Yrse is available as someone’s dream horse as she should make an excellent show partner or suitable for the casual rider. Payments are accepted until weaning (between 6-7 months of age).
